Mapping
The tax maps provided by the mapping department display a variety of information such as parcel boundaries, corporate limits, subdivision names, blocks, lots, highway right-of-ways, fire districts and other information relative to the assessment of real property as described by the State of North Carolina.
This information is compiled from deeds and plats recorded in the Nash County Register of Deeds Office.
Tax maps are drawn on a scale of 1 inch equals 400 feet in rural areas and 1 inch equals 100 feet in urban areas.
Inquires regarding information not associated with the Tax Assessors Office, such as but not limited to, voting districts, school districts, water and sewer availability and electrical hookup, should be made to the department or municipality overseeing that information. The Tax Assessor's office does not provide information regarding property that is listed for sale or rent by land realtors.
All mapping data is based on the North American Datum 1927 (NAD27) coordinate system and is projected in State Plane Coordinates, feet. The Nash County mapping department has a variety of mapping information.

A cadastral map or cadastre is a line-drawn-to scale depiction of the parcel boundaries within a governmental jurisdiction, as covered by the map's image area. It is normally a multi-purpose public record designed to show (1) real property ownership within the jurisdiction; (2) the basis for real property valuation and taxation; and (3) geographical information for use by planners and other governmental officials, as well as the general public.
A photograph having the properties of an orthographic projection. It is derived from a conventional perspective photograph by simple or differential rectification so that the image displacements caused by camera tilt and relief of terrain are removed.
Aerial photographs that are not true scale.
A diagram drawn to scale showing all essential data pertaining to the boundaries and subdivisions of a tract of land as determined by survey.
A soil map, soil survey map, or detailed soil map is a line-drawn-to-scale depiction of the detailed soil types located within a governmental jurisdiction, as covered by the map's image area; also depicted on the map is the soil land use of the map's image area. The soil information and the soil land use information are digitized and then are depicted on a map layer which is registered to the County's base map. The digitized soil information is in such a form that it may be used for other computer mapping and analysis applications.
